Privacy notice

This notice explains which personal data we process, why, and how you can exercise your rights, under Mexico’s Federal Law on the Protection of Personal Data Held by Private Parties. The Spanish version governs; this is a courtesy translation.

1. Data controller

SOBN900915JP1 (“Landed Cost”, “we”), with its address at Avenida Mariano Otero 5611, Zapopan, is responsible for processing your personal data.

For anything related to this notice, write to us at privacidad@landedcost.app.

2. Data we collect

Depending on how you interact with us, we may process:

  • Contact data: name, email, company, job title and phone, when you write to us or request a demo.
  • Account data: name, email, company, role and password (stored hashed, never in plain text).
  • Shipment content: the documents you upload (invoices, packing lists, pedimentos, broker accounts, policies) may include names, tax IDs, addresses and contact details of suppliers, customs brokers and other people.
  • Technical data: IP address, browser type, access date and time, and activity logs needed to run and protect the service.

We do not request sensitive personal data or payment card data.

3. How we use your data

Primary purposes, required to provide the service:

  • Create and manage your account and your company’s.
  • Read your documents, calculate the landed cost and show you the results.
  • Handle demo, support and contact requests.
  • Invoice and meet legal and contractual obligations.
  • Keep the service secure and prevent misuse.

Secondary purposes, not required for the service:

  • Send you product news and content about foreign trade.
  • Invite you to satisfaction surveys.

If you do not want us to use your data for secondary purposes, write to privacidad@landedcost.app. Opting out does not affect the service.

4. Shipment documents and artificial intelligence

To read the documents you upload we use an artificial intelligence provider acting as a processor: it handles the content only to extract the information and return it, under commercial terms that do not allow it to be used to train its models.

The AI only reads and suggests data; you confirm it before calculating. CFDI XML files are processed without AI.

If the documents contain third-party data, you are responsible for having the legal basis to share it with us for this purpose.

5. Who we share your data with

We do not sell or rent your personal data. We share it only with processors that help us run the service and are bound to protect it:

  • Cloud infrastructure and hosting providers.
  • The artificial intelligence provider that reads the documents.
  • Email and support providers.

Some of these providers may be outside Mexico. We may also transfer data without your consent where the law allows it, for example to competent authorities that require it.

6. Your ARCO rights

You have the right to access your data, rectify it if it is inaccurate, cancel it when you consider it is no longer needed, and object to its use for specific purposes.

To exercise them, send a request to privacidad@landedcost.app with:

  • Your name and a way to reply to you.
  • An official ID (or your representative’s, with the document proving the representation).
  • A clear description of the right you want to exercise and the data involved.
  • Any document that helps us locate your data.

We will reply within 20 business days and, if applicable, carry out your request within the following 15 business days.

8. Cookies and similar technologies

This site does not use advertising or analytics cookies. We only store your preferred language in your browser (local storage).

The application stores your session token in your browser to keep you signed in. You can remove it by signing out or clearing the site data.

The site’s fonts load from Google Fonts, which means your browser sends your IP address to Google.

9. Security and retention

We apply administrative, technical and physical safeguards: encryption in transit, hashed passwords, data isolation between companies and access control.

We keep your data while you have an active account and, afterwards, only as long as needed to meet legal obligations or resolve disputes. Then we delete or anonymize it.

10. Changes to this notice

We may update this notice due to legal or service changes. We will publish the current version on this page with its update date and, if the change is significant, let you know by email or in the application.

11. Authority

If you believe your right to personal data protection has been violated, you may go to the competent authority, currently Mexico’s Ministry of Anti-Corruption and Good Governance (Secretaría Anticorrupción y Buen Gobierno).
